Well, after much decision, I decided to get another cat. I really try to play with Mia a lot, but I really think that she is bored since I am gone all of the time. I got her brother (he looks a lot like her...he's an orange tabby, but doesn't have the extra toe). I was REALLY nervous when I went to go get him because I took Mia with me and she was NOT excited to see her brother and sister. They came running after her and she had her tail was extremely puffy! Mia hissed and batted at them. The foster parents said that it was because Mia was not on her home turf, and she wasn't comfortable with the surroundings. When I got home, I put him in one bedroom and let them sniff each other under the door. Mia was clawing at him, and I started getting really scared. I thought "What did I do!!!!" I called Tara, the girl who runs the shelter, and she gave me a lot of comfort. She said that any time you have more than one animal, they have to establish who will be dominant. Usually, that is the female with cats. It is very true in this case. Mia is DEFINITELY the boss. Tara told me to let them out together, she said not to keep them separated, so I let him out. He explored the house while Mia followed. Now everything is quite a bit better...we'll see how tonight goes!
By the way...his name is Caesar! (we wanted to keep with the Italian theme :)
