The Past Few Weeks...

This summer has been crazy busy for us, but we've had a lot of fun!  A few weeks ago, we were in Oklahoma visiting Jason's parents, sister, and our niece.  On the way back, part of the interstate was closed due to a fire (smoke blocked the visibility).  We pulled off to a Route 66 hotspot...Pops.  One of my co-workers in Kansas told me about this place in Oklahoma...I couldn't believe that I'd never been there!  Anyway, they are known for carrying hundreds of varieties of pop from all over the country (and world).  We ate dinner there in effort to avoid the I-35 closing, but unfortunately, we still had to take a detour.

The entire inside of the store/restaurant is lined with soda bottle

Last week was also the end of an "era."  Our good friend from church, Mikah, has watched Ian since he was 3 months old while Jason and I were both at work.  She had 2 kids of her own, and Ian has really grown close to them.  It came time to make some changes in Mikah's life, including her son starting kindergarten....so, last week was the last week that Ian stayed with her.  Now another sweet girl from our church, Jessica, is taking over.  She has a little girl that is exactly 1 day younger than Ian, as well as a 4-yr-old.  Ian is already having a great time. :)

Finally, last weekend we got to take a little "getaway" with some friends from our church group.  They invited us back in June to help Erin celebrate her 30th birthday, but due to busy schedules, the trip was postponed until this past weekend.  We went to Kansas City and stayed at a GORGEOUS bed and breakfast near the Country Club Plaza (a great shopping and dining area).
Our lovely inn
Such a beautiful place...our room was called "Thomas Hart Benton."  All of the guest rooms were named after famous Kansans.

Sorry this post includes so much "randomness," but things have just been so busy lately....I needed to catch up!  Next up on our agenda in the next several weeks...my best friend's little boy's 1st birthday, Ian's 1st birthday, and my brother's wedding!
